Downfall of Pinoy Pugilism??

In almost a century, Philippines has molded great boxers that gives the country a great honor such as Pancho Villa, Gabriel Elorde, Rolando Navarette, Manny Pacquiao and the rest of it's long list of fighters. In this modern time, in my personal experience as sports audience, it is very unusual that the Filipino fighters loss in more than two in a row. Every time, they feel bothered by its defeat, the fans are embarrassed maybe possibly in a performance of it's fighter.

And the crazy thing is even they win, for other Pinoy boxing fans, are not convinced on their victories. Maybe they want a big time blows to make it a little bit impressive.

Let us make such recap starting from the loss of so-called "Pambansang Kamao" Manny Pacquiao to "Dinamita" Juan Manuel Marquez. In the middle of the fight, before the bell rang, Marquez hit a "hidden" punch that put Pacquiao down and annoyed by the resemblance of dizziness. Her beloved wife Jinky feel his worries to him. I think that it should be included in the boxing history books. (Note: Nonito Donaire victory over Jorge Arce is excluded, unfortunately).

By entering into the Year of Snake, of course, great boxing analysts expects a high recognition from the fighters who are installed to battle into the 16 and 25 feet platform. It was started by Brian Viloria defeat versus Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada via split decision. Milan Melindo's victory served as a consolation.

Going to Nonito Donaire, of course, he has a great IQ but he failed to manipulate it by an unanimous decision over Guillermo Rigondeaux. It was a disappointment by not preparing to the extent of the fight against another intelligent boxer like Rigondeaux.

Finally, a slow man named Boom-Boom Bautista may possibly faded his career by a suffocating loss to Jose Ramirez. I watched in a news that Ronnie Nathanielsz wanted Boom-Boom to retire maybe because of it's given chance to improve his style of work.

Despite of all, there is another thing that it may so-called a downfall. It is a zero Olympic gold medal of the Philippines. Why?? Reason is some sportswriters and analysts stated that boxing is a sporting event that has a greatest chance for the Philippines to grabbed it's "ultimate prize" in sports history..

Lack of priority is another contributing factor. Buti pa si Rigondeaux, may 2 gold medals na sa Olympics..
