In the league, there is always a crowd favorite. This gives thrill and excitement in every games that they had. It shows confidence to the players to dominate and bring the team into victory.
But today, its totally different. It's unexpected for both Barangay Ginebra and Los Angeles Lakers to suffered an outrageous losing streaks. Despite its roster power, they are in the current slump. Only the stats numbers reflects their personality. Now, we will breaking down the story behind struggles for this two famous hoop squads:
Los Angeles Lakers
Since the assumption of Mike Brown after the Zen Master Era at Hollywood, this team is in the slump for the 2nd straight season. In spite of adding the superstars likes of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard that will gives the team into a championship contender. Brown itself had doubts to its players like not giving descent playing time for Jodie Meeks, who had a history of streaking long treys. Its manifests wrong signals to its fans.
Bench production is in the queries today. They had an average of 18.8 ppg, the 2nd worst statistics behind Portland Trail Blazers. This is very unusual for this kind of strong team- maybe because of existing CBA that gives limitations to all teams in terms of financing.
Its crazy thing that the likes of Darius Morris and Devin Ebanks are the substitutes of great backcourt duo (Steve Nash currently had injury).. I don't know why Mike Brown did not experimented their rookie doll-out Darius Johnson-Odom now that there are in that stage.
Generally, Mike Brown had tainted with incompetence. For me, that is alarming for this type of squad. He did not motivate his players to play according to his system- maybe because of rebelling him as a mentor. That is totally daunting for this team.
Maybe Brown is worst than Westphal. That is my frank opinion. It manifests how deep the problem is the Lakers it is right now. He had no descent decisions most especially to the critical part of ballgame. For critics, immaturity takes its over for him.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel
Back to local basketball, this squad had a great records in the PBA. Its obvious, right?? This team is totally represented the masses. Passionate basketball designates this team. Today, there is antonym behind of this.
In the last few years, this squad had no called 'center'. It defines the domination in the paint- that is a basketball point of view. They are depending on backcourt. The likes of Mark Caguioa and LA Tenorio.
After their first two victories, this team currently had slump in their last five games. The difference based on the fans plain of view is there is no 'never-say-die' spirit. Its totally die, they say.
The blame game pointed to Siot Tanquingcen. Like Mike Brown, incompetence characterizes on this guy. His decisions reflected to what type of outcome of game it has.
In my perspective, the headcoach of this kind of squad must have a strong personality like Sonny Jaworski. This kind of personality are demanded by fans. I don't believe that the management will try put Jaworski back to its squad. He had a descent private life already. Maybe the contributions he shall do is to advise the current roster. Maybe he will be a big help to this team. That is totally an urgent right now.
