My Personal Grade for 2012 NBA Trade Deadline

Another year for the most prestigious hoop league of the planet. The league imposed again the so-called "trade deadline" for all the teams who will make-up their roster for the final push for playoffs spot. It will happen on the afternoon of February 21 ( early morning of February 22 in Manila). Before we focus on the rumors surrounding the league, we will rewind the last year's deadline and grade some of the teams involved.

1. Los Angeles Lakers (C+)

Almost all the analysts anticipated roster shake-up of the most popular squad. They acquired athletic guard Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga in exchange of Luke Walton and Jason Kapono.

But the sad thing of this trade was they got ex-Rocket center/forward Jordan Hill in exchange of long-time pal of Kobe Bryant named Derek Fisher. Some fans feel regrets of swapping Fisher to an unfamiliar big man.

On the positive side of things, the Lakers made the last push to get into their 59th playoff appearance. A strange center Jordan Hill poised into a defensive blocks aside from Andrew Bynum and Spanish 7-footer Pau Gasol.

I will never forget Jordan by stopping a great scorer like Kevin Durant in their 2nd round of playoffs. In a pessimistic thing, they lose to the rampaging OKC Thunder. The athletic sustainability of Ramon Sessions has been questionable.

In this trade, I graded them C+ because they failed to cope up to the 0-4 sweep of Dallas Mavericks, two seasons ago. Maybe the history repeat itself for them.

2. Milwaukee Bucks (A-)

Big headline reported on Oakland, Bay Area that the Golden State Warriors premier scorer Monta Ellis will be traded to Milwaukee Bucks in exchange of an injured big man Andrew Bogut. So many GSW fans are disappointed in that type of swap and the Bucks could be beneficiary in that type of hype.

In fairness to Milwaukee, they try to pull a possible playoff spot most especially to the no.8 spot. Via Ellis-Brandon Jennings connection served a big boost for the Bucks most especialy to the current season.Their backcourt duo had quite great.

3. Brooklyn Nets (A)

Another shocker for the trade deadline of 2012 was giving away ex-Blazer big man Gerald Wallace to former New Jersey Nets for Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and a first-round pick (which I think it is on Damian Lillard).

Maybe that is one of the genius moves in New Jersey franchise before they moved to Brooklyn. Wallace, who had a defensive arsenal against other bigs of the league are given a chance to be a starting PF for the new and more competitive Brooklyn Nets adding former long-time Atlanta Hawk Joe Johnson to spice up their bid for possible ECF title.

4. Denver Nuggets (A)

Trading is the usual practice in every league in the world- that will personified former long-time Denver Nugget center Nene. A 6'11 slotman from Brazil was traded into the deadline in exchange of a young athletic  giant Javale McGee.

In my personal note, the Nuggets is focusing on their future in terms of frontcourt youth consisting of McGee and high-flyer sophomore Kenneth Faried. As a result, they turned down wire-to-wire against a more powerful LA Lakers during their first-round playoff showdown.
